DD02:

EXTRUDING

The EXTRUDE tool adds depth (thickness) to a 2 dimensional sketch.

LEFT CLICK on the EXTRUSION tool
Select SOLID or SURFACE
- USE SOLIDS whenever possible
LEFT CLICK on the shape(s) within a sketch that will be the same thickness.
- For SOLIDS select the grey areas inside the shapes to be EXTRUDED.
- For SURFACES select all the edges that will be EXTRUDED

Left click on the appropriate tab to determine the type of extrusion

New, Add, Remove, or Intersect

NEW

Create a NEW PART that is not attached to an existing feature or part in the part studio

ADD

Create a NEW FEATURE that is added to an existing part in the PART STUDIO. It uses same window as NEW except adds "Merge with all" checkbox and "Merge Scope" box

LEFT Click on the "Merge with all" box when you want the new extrusion to combine with all adjacent features.
If you only what the new feature to be added to a specific part, LEFT CLICK on the MERGE SCOPE Box and then LEFT CLICK on the part where you want to attach the feature.

REMOVE

DELETE MATERIAL from an existing part(s) that is inside the enclosed shape of the sketch

LEFT Click on the "Merge with all" box when you want to remove material from all parts the REMOVE extrusion touches.
If you only what the new feature to be REMOVED from a specific part, LEFT CLICK on the MERGE SCOPE Box and then LEFT CLICK on the part(S) where you want the feature to be REMOVED.

INTERSECT

DELETE MATERIAL from an existing part(s) that is outside the enclosed shape of the sketch

LEFT Click on the "Merge with all" box when you want to remove material from all parts the REMOVE extrusion touches.
If you only what the new feature to be REMOVED from a specific part, LEFT CLICK on the MERGE SCOPE Box and then LEFT CLICK on the part(S) where you want the feature to be REMOVED.
