DH02: PUZZLE PIECE

Puzzle Piece Requirements

Students will apply their knowledge of Onshape to create their first modification of a part with a design of their choice and then use the Laser Cutter/Etcher to cut the actual part.

Students are given an Onshape puzzle Model template where they will extrude the following geometry:
1. Submit a sketch of your puzzle piece concept for approval to Seesaw prior to beginning work.
2. The puzzle piece must include:
  - The students name (First, Last, Nickname, or Full Name)
  - A logo or design that is of interest to the student.
  - The final laser cut piece must include:
    1. Vector Cutting: Cutting fully through the wood following a line.
    2. Vector Engraving: Cutting partially through the wood following a line.
    3. Rastering: Cutting a selected surface partially through the wood.
3. Submit a picture of the final laser cut Puzzle Piece with you in the picture to Canvas.
4. One Puzzle Piece must be submitted to your instructor. An extra one can be made for your to keep.

Make a private copy of the template

Create a new sketch on the top surface of the Puzzle Piece

Add your name and and a symbol that defines an interest of yours

Create Letters
1. Create a sketch on the top surface
  - Use lettering tools or freehand design letters
2. Extrude to desired height
Create Shapes
- Freehand sketch
  - Create a sketch on the top surface of puzzle
    - Freehand sketch using Onshape sketching tools.

Trace an image (Recommended)
- Create a sketch on the top surface of puzzle
  - Insert an image as described in DC19-Insert Image
- Create another sketch on the top surface of puzzle
  - Trace the image using Onshape sketching tools.

All shapes must be Extruded to show up on the drawing.

You may need to extrude adjacent shapes to different heights for them to appear in the drawing
- The line between two shapes of the same height will not be visible on a drawing.

Refresh the drawing to view the updates you made

Create DXF File

Create the DXF file either at the laser cutter computer and export into downloads

Create the DXF file either at the your current computer, export into downloads, and copy into a flash drive or google drive.

Right Click on the PuzzlePieceDrawing Tab and select Export

Create a new filename for the the drawing, select DXF, and click Export.

Proceed to CorelDRAW Import Drawing to continue making part.
