SOLID modeling is the representation of a 3 Dimensional solid part on your computer.
- Most CAD design will be done in the SOLID modeling mode.
- SOLID modeling simulates an object internally and externally.
- SOLID models can be sectioned (cut open) to reveal their internal features
SURFACE MODELING
SURFACE MODELING
A SURFACE model is a thin shell of a part that does not have mass or volume.
- A SURFACE model is used when creating the external aesthetics of a product such as the body of a car or airplane.
- A SURFACE can be changed to a SOLID by using the THICKEN function in Onshape.
