- Extrude <Most common modeling tool
- Revolve
- Sweep
- Loft
- Thicken
All tools used to create 3D geometry provide the options of SOLID or SURFACE
- SOLID is highly recommended for most designs
A SOLID EXTRUSION will fill the inside of the sketch to the desired depth while the SURFACE EXTRUSION will only create 3 Dimensional Edges
- USE SOLID WHENEVER POSSIBLE
The SURFACE EXTRUSION will only create 3 Dimensional Edges of NO thickness.
- Use SOLIDS whenever possible.
- Surfaces should only be used with complex shapes
- You create THICKNESS to an SURFACE to make it into SOLID GEOMETRY using the THICKEN tool.
- 3D printers will not print surfaces unless they are thickened.
