Wow, what a wonderful year we have had. A huge thank you to all of the children, parents and teachers for working as a team to ensure that everybody has felt welcome, happy and made excellent memories.
On Monday, the children had a wonderful time meeting their new Year 6 teachers. It was lovely to see the children’s happy, smiling faces as they returned from their moving up morning. It was also particularly pleasing to hear the complimentary words that the Year 6 team had to say about the children. It would seem that they have made a very good first impression which sets them up nicely for August.
We have shared words of gratitude for one another as we celebrate what has truly been a wonderful year. Unfortunately, with the end of another school year comes goodbyes. We wish our children and families the best of luck as they embark on their next adventures. We truly are a family, and would therefore love to hear from you all so we know you have settled in and are enjoying your new schools.
This week, we have had lots of fun creating our discussion texts in English. We used our knowledge of Greek myths to create balanced arguments about which of our Greek monsters is the greatest. The children did a great job in using adventurous vocabulary, and relevant phrasing to state their cases for their different creatures.
In maths, we have continued to work hard to build our knowledge of negative numbers and converting measurements. Please make sure that you keep practising your mental methods of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division over the summer break so that you are ready to ‘hit the ground running’ when school starts again in August.
In DT, we had lots of fun sharing our Greek myth pop-up books with our BSM friends. The children have worked incredibly hard on this project and have learned a lot of skills during their fun lessons. Thank you to the parents at home who helped complete the final projects too. The children have created some masterpieces!
Please note that during the last week of term there will not be any homework set. Over the summer break, please ensure that your child continues to read, write and think mathematically on a regular basis. Involving your child in real life scenarios is always an excellent way to achieve this.
The Year 5 Team would like to share gratitude to all our parents!

To maximize the benefits, and to allow the children to practice at home, you are able to hire your child's selected instrument, this will help to boost their confidence and really engage in their lessons. If you have not filled the form yet and you wish to hire an instrument kindly fill this registration form.
The rental fee for the instruments is 60OMR per year - this covers both usage and general maintenance.

We look forward to seeing the amazing progress your child will make this year. With best wishes, The BSM Music Team.
If your child is unwell, leaving early or coming late please complete the Absence Form and the class teacher will be informed.
Please can we request that all children come to school on the day of their swimming lessons with the following equipment:
Swim Uniform in accordance with guidelines.
Swim hats for those with long hair. NB - For Health & Safety reasons ALL hats must be secure on the head with no risk of slipping down over the face.
Goggles
Towel
Pool shoes (crocs or equivalent)
A waterproof bag to carry everything in.
Please see our Swimwear Guidelines on the website.
Please do not wear 'swim uniform' into school for hygiene reasons. Please do not wear an alternative gym or running kit for swimming lessons. It's important to use only 'Swim Uniform' and the recommendations listed above in the pool, as other fabrics become incredibly heavy when wet.
