It has been wonderful to welcome the children this week, and particularly to meet the children and families who are new to BSM! We hope your child has enjoyed their first week in Year 3, and we have been impressed by their excellent behaviour, their enthusiasm and how quickly they have settled into KS2!
We have had a very busy first week of learning! This week we have spent time focusing on getting to know the children and introducing them to their new classmates, classrooms and the KS2 areas of the school. The children have created some lovely artwork all about themselves to display in their classrooms and have written letters to their teachers sharing information about themselves.
In PSHE lessons we have looked at a book called ‘ish’; which teaches children about the importance of creativity and not worrying about getting everything perfectly right.
In maths lessons we have been reading some brilliant picture books about number and using concrete materials to help us to work out the answers to problems.
No homework will be set next week, but we would ask that the children begin to record their daily 20 minutes of reading in their PO. The PO should be signed everyday by an adult. Reading books will be sent home this week. Your child will bring home two books at a time and can swap them for two new books when they have finished.
Next week please ensure your child has joined and can navigate around their Google Classroom. If you have any issues with joining the Google Classroom, especially for new parents who have not used this platform before, please contact the primary office for support.
We look forward to meeting parents at our Meet and Greet event which will be on Wednesday 13th September at 5pm. Please park at the top car park and make your way down to the Oryx theatre. After a presentation in the Oryx there will be time to see your child’s classroom and meet their teachers!
