Preparations for the EYFS performance have been hotting up this week! We look forward to seeing you all on Thursday for the performance and the workshops that will follow.
In our phonics sessions, we have been revising the sounds learned and using them to blend and read words such as ‘sat’, ‘pat’ and ‘tap. We have also introduced the ‘i’ sound and have been reading the words- pit, sit, tip.
In our Maths sessions we have continued comparing heights by comparing children and saying who is taller and who is shorter, we have been comparing quantities of objects by counting each carefully and using the words ‘more’ and ‘less’ to describe them. Last week we handled objects and used balancing scales, this week we have been using our imaginations/ judgements to compare objects in terms of weight, describing a pair of objects as either ‘heavy’ or ‘light.’
In our Arabic sessions we have been learning the names of colours.
We have continued talking about our learning ethos creatures- the “Resilient Spider” and “Collaborative Meerkat.”

We have come to a point in the year when the children are independent and happy when coming into school. To promote independence we request that children walk into school independently and not be carried in unless there is a particular reason for this. Please can toys be left at home as bringing these into school results in distraction, tears and a sense of unfairness for those who have not been able to bring anything into school. The children will be given an opportunity to bring a favourite toy into school and share it with their friends when it is there Focus Week in the next round of focus meetings next term.

It has been another amazing week in FS1 this week.
Some children have been so confident and happy coming to school, that they have left Mummy and Daddy at the top gate!!
We have been painting ourselves this week, thinking carefully about what our bodies look like, counting arms and legs.

Dear Parents
The children have done incredibly well with the start of their full days of school.
It has been so nice to see so many children so confident coming into school, with smiles on their faces!
Please be aware that the Blue EYFS Gate opens at 7.10am and will close at 7.30am.
As the children settle, we will advise you to adopt a ‘drop and go’ system. This enables the children to play independently and line up together ready for registration.
Please be reminded, children are not to bring any personal items into school such as toys and special books as this will inevitably end in tears or sadness if items are lost or broken.
The children have loved exploring the FS garden and feeding the tortoises. If you have any scraps for either the tortoises or the garden compost, please feel free to bring this in and leave at the steps of the garden, either of these things will be gratefully received.
Later on this half term, you will be receiving an individual login to our Learning Ladders assessment program which will enable you to look at all the weekly observations on your child.
