Cultural Fair 29/2/24
EYFS will be taking part in this celebration of our wonderful community. All students are invited to wear clothes that represent their nationality or culture or dress in colours of their flag.
EYFS children will be visiting the fair during the course of the day. There will be lots to see!
Your child can bring in 1 OMR in a labelled envelope and we will support them to choose something from the food stalls. We will be limiting their choices to cakes/treats as we will be sending home the purchase in their snack box, as we normally do. As parents you will be able to take the children to the event after school and purchase other goods with them.
Please be aware of allergies. If your child has allergies it would be better to give them an individual treat at home.
Please support us by not giving your child or the class teacher loose money - it needs to be in a labelled envelope.
IMPORTANT NOTE: the fair is open to parents and children from 1.30pm so you may decide to share the experience together and purchase from the variety of stalls. If this is the case, you do not have to send any money with your child.

Thank you for sending in such wonderfully healthy lunchboxes, examples of these can be found on display in the kitchen. It is always nice to get ideas from others as to what to send in for your child’s snack. Please note, nuts are not allowed in school as we do have some children with nut allergies.
Correct uniform is to be worn by the children, please check the school website if you are unsure. FS1 children do not need a PE uniform, however we do require a change of clothes in a labelled bag in case of any accidents.
NB. Spare clothes are kept in school incase of more than one accident.
Please do not hesitate to contact the Primary Office if you have any questions on queries.

Thank you all for making the trip to the beach such a success, if you haven’t already had a look, please have a look at the photos on the Google Classroom page.
In phonics this week the children have been reading and making words from sounds, it has been tricky to get all of the sounds in the correct order to make the word. Some of us have been practicing to identify initial sounds and recognise what they look like. We played ‘Hey Mr Crocodile, can I cross the river?’ We have also been clapping syllables in words.
In our Maths sessions, we have been counting and using mental maths to solve problems involving taking away. We had a lot of fun taking away yummy cookies!
We have been thinking about Spring and we had a look at some beautiful daffodils that were brought into school by one of the children. The children sang ‘Lazy, Lazy Daffodil’ and learned about the parts of a daffodil.
As part of our learning through the story Jack and the Beanstalk, the children have made a bean and cheese wrap, we learned about how we get milk and how beans grow.

We have had a busy week in FS2. We are planning our own small Sports Day event with simple races and fun games. Date and times will be shared with you soon.
We are very excited to go on our school trip to the beach this week too.
We have covered a range of phonics activities this week, revising the sounds learned, using our listening ears to listen out for rhyming words or initial sounds and playing Silly Soup! Some of us have been using the sounds that we have learned to read words such as ‘pat’ and ‘sat’ and then we talked about other rhyming words within this group such as ‘rat’ or ‘cat’.
In our Maths sessions, we have been matching numerals to quantities. We have played games using dice, ladybirds and everyday objects
We have also been learning ring games such as ‘Around the Apple Tree’ and ‘I’ve Got a Body.’Please ask your child to sing these to you!

We have really enjoyed having the children back in school after the winter holidays. It's so nice to hear all about their holidays, they have had plenty to keep them occupied, from visits abroad to visits from relatives that have come from far and wide!
Another EYFS teacher Mrs Masroor has joined in the fun of the FS1 team and has loved getting to know all of the children. During PSED this week the children were asked to think about the world around them. We considered what could be a wish for the world. The children all came up with brilliant wishes - ‘happiness for everyone’ ‘toys for everyone’ ‘love for everyone’ were some of the wonderful examples. The wishes were written on green leaves and placed on the Humani Tree outside the Oryx Theatre.
During phonics we have been revising the sounds learned and using our listening ears to listen out for rhyming words and initial sounds.
We have been looking at counting, recognising numerals, patterns, shapes and comparing objects in our maths sessions. We have had so much fun making our own patterns from a variety of different objects such as beans, pasta, spoons and coloured beads!
Please note that school will be closed on Thursday 11th January.
