In English lessons this week the children have been writing about their holidays and sharing their favourite memories.
In maths lessons we have revised the work on multiplication and division and completed the end of unit assessment. Please keep practising the 2,3,4,5 and 8 times tables!
In science this week we began our new topic by looking closely at plant and animal fossils and discussing how these were formed and what we can discover by looking closely at them.
In humanities we began our new topic by looking at sketch maps and thinking about their features. Then we drew our own sketch maps of BSM.
In Year 3 we set homework tasks on a Sunday, and they are due on the following Sunday. Full details of homework tasks can be found in your child’s Google Classroom. Each week the children will have a Maths, English and a Spelling task.
We also ask that the children read for 20 minutes every night and that this is recorded in their PO. The children will bring home two reading books at a time, and these can be swapped for two new books when they are finished.
If your child ever has any problems with completing a homework task please let us know, through a note in the PO, so that we can help.
Dear Parents
We would like to welcome you to our annual Sports Day event for Year 3 and 4 students on the above date from 8:00 am – 1:15 pm. The activities are based on those that the students have been participating in during regular PE lessons. The schedule for the day’s events is as below:
Spectators will be allowed in the sports halls, but are requested to wear flat shoes. Please feel free to wear house colours to add to the atmosphere. Students are requested to come to school in their PE kit and bring hats and water bottles. They will not need their school uniform to change, as the Sports Day runs for the majority of the day.
Upon entering, please ensure you wear your parents badge at all times. If you do not have a parent badge, or are bringing relatives who do not have a BSM badge, please sign in with the security guards either at the top or bottom car park. They will issue you a badge to wear at all times which then needs to be returned to the security team on departure
There will be a break between 9:30 - 10:30 am. I am sorry but we do not have catering facilities available on site and parents will be asked to leave the site for this one hour period so that break sessions and other activities can go ahead in the space.
We anticipate the event will finish around 1:15 pm. All children will need to return to their classrooms to collect their belongings. If you would like to take your child at this time, please collect them from their classroom so that their class teacher can sign them out. Please note that you will not be able to take siblings at this time. Siblings in other year groups should be collected at their usual time. If your child has an ECA on this day they are still expected to attend.
We have limited parking available in the school. Please do not park in the top car park as we have EYFS and KS1 pick up happening before the end of Year 3 and 4 sports day. The bottom car park will be made available for parents to park in the two drop off lanes in the underground carpark between 07:50 am until 1:15 pm. It is essential that no-one parks down the middle of these lanes as this will cause an obstruction for anyone trying to leave. We would ask that you do not park any earlier than 07:50 am. Parents must vacate the drop off zones by 1:20 pm at the latest. In addition to this, there are 45 spaces outside the bottom car park and more parking outside school premises on Al Nadhayer street, Way 1949 and Way 1947. Where possible, we would ask families to carpool to reduce congestion in the car park.
We hope you will join us.
Sincerely,
Mr. O’Sullivan
Primary PE Coordinator
