In Farm to School . . .
We watched the winter Olympics for most of our Farm to School time. But for the last ten minutes we went to the snow piles by the tennis courts and made tracks for the Bethany Olympics we will have. But they might be cancelled due to the warm weather.
On Monday we finally tapped our trees by the track but first we drilled a hole in the tree then we put in a spile and a bucket hanging on the hook on the spile.
We watched Mr. Friesen show us how we would boil the sap from the maple tree, in the start of our farm to school class. After that we went to the gym and played a game called everybody's it.
We collected sap when it was raining. But most people didn't bring a raincoat, so we had to wear poncho's while we collected the sap. While we were collecting sap two of our beakers/measuring tools shattered on the ground.
On Friday we started making our own atlatls (a Potawatomi spear weapon for throwing a spear). We sawed off 3/4 inches off of our spear with a handsaw.
