The Fost family
Albert and Ella Fost were both from Minnesota. They moved here for land and jobs. Ella moved here with her sister and they homesteaded two miles apart from each other. When Albert went to work in the morning he would pass Ella's house. She was out side working and Albert was going by for work and he saw her. He stopped and was talking to her. Later they got married and had two kids. The kids names were Marion and Raymond Fost. They grew up on the ranch and they went to school. They would stay in town during the week and come home during the weekend. When they went to school they knew what they wanted to do when they graduate. Jesse became a teacher and Raymond went into the military.
Before they got married Raymond went to World War ll, he served in construction work. He went building bridges and other things that they needed built and was leading a group of twelve men. When Raymond came back he found the love of his life Jesse Bucklin. Raymond and Jesse got married on December 21st 1945. When they got married Raymond built their house a mile from his mom and dad. Raymond and Jesse had two children Karen and Maxine Fost. They were very active in their community and their kids were also active in 4-H and other things.
Raymond’s sister Marion and her husband Harry Hanson had two kids Randy, and Russell, Hanson. They were homesteaded about a mile from Raymond. They planted apple trees and more at their place they called it the apple orchard and we still call it that today. People would go there and pick apples to just eat or to cook with. A lot of apples were picked every day and a lot of pies were made. We still go there a get about twelve five gallon buckets full of apples to eat or make things with. Randy Hanson still lives in the house that has been there for over eighty years.
Raymond passed away on November 19th 2017 and his wife Jesse is still with us. She enjoys washing dishes, feeding her birds and cats, taking care of her flowers and watching her grand and great grandchildren grow up. She enjoys telling us old stories about what it used to be like in the old days and how much she enjoys watching us do all of our chores and how our dogs follow us all over the place. Raymond enjoyed being outside when it was nice out. He liked watching the birds outside his window. He taught us how to ride our bikes when we got off of our training wheels. He enjoyed meeting everybody at the door and sometimes scaring us, he would ask us a lot of questions when we would walk in. He would always shake our hands when we walked in and when we left. Raymond's sister passed away in 2008.
