Schell

Luella Schell was born on July 7, 1909 in Artas, South Dakota. At age nine, the family moved to a farm south of Plevna. It was there that she met Jacob Schell Jr. (Jake) She married Jake on March 26, 1928 in Plevna. Luella and Jake resided in Plevna for many years. Luella worked for Burges Cafe in Plevna. Jake and Luella then decided to take the leap and move to Ismay were they farmed. The couple would often take trips to Baker to sell their goods, and socialize. Luella was a very hardworking women. She was always out working in the fields. To add to this, she also had nine kids. Their names are Clarence, Lloyd, Raymond, Larry, Lillian, Alice, Florence,Vernon, and Mary Ann. Sadly, Vernon passed away when he was an infant. Luella loved to cook and she baked all sorts of goodies. She always made lots of German Kuchen for Reynolds (grocery store). She was also a devoted gardener. She planted many different kinds of flowers and vegetables. When Jake and Luella’s children grew up, they decided it was time for a change. The couple decided to retire in Baker. Shortly after they resided in Baker, Jake passed away on January 18, 1993 from a heart attack. Luella continued to bake, garden and watch her children grow up. She started to get grandchildren! She loved to see her grandchildren and teach them new things. Sadly, Luella Schell passed away early Friday morning June 11, 1993. I am writing this as Luella and Jacob’s great great granddaughter. My great grandparents are Clarence and Dolores Schell. My grandparents are Kenneth and Connie Schell.
