Edward Sieler was born to Adam Sieler and Christina Klemmer on January 5, 1880 in Scotland, South Dakota. At the age of 30, Edward made the decision to move. He married and moved from his home in Java, South Dakota to Fallon County, Montana. A year later, his family came to join him. Ten miles south of Westmore they started to build their home. After the move, 9 more children joined the Sieler family, leaving them with 13 children in total., Walter, Edwin, Arthur, Hulda, Leo, Deward, Emil, Tony, Simon, Hable, Ruth, Benjamin and David. Edward and his family ran a farm until 1939, when they moved to town so the younger kids could go to school.
In 1932 tragedy struck the family. There was a coal mine incident, and the miners were covered by a cave-in. Leo was killed and his brother Arthur was covered, but was saved by his younger brother Tony, who was 14 at the time. Edwin, who was blind and deaf, was hit by a train in 1938. Edward and his wife along with Walter and Edward, the son, all died due to heart attacks. Emil, Simon, Arthur, and Hable followed their father’s footsteps and farmed in the Plevna area. Benjamin became an interior decorator and David became an industrial arts teacher. Ruth, the only child not married, was the Postmistress in Plevna.
Emil Sieler went on to marry Albina Straub. They had for children, Loretta, Emil Jr., Thomas, and Lanette. They had a Shetland pony named Sailor. With scrap leather, Emil and Thomas put together a harness for the pony and strapped it to a red wagon. They started going and the noise of the wagon scared Sailor and he took off, leaving Emil and Thomas in the dust. Emil Jr. married Kathleen Bechtold and they had four girls, Melissa, Michelle, Marci, and Miranda.
