On the Day of October 18th, 1915, What would have been my great-great grandpa came to Montana. He settled here for what reason we don’t know. Hans Tronstad came here all the way from Norway in 1915. He settled on south half of Section twenty-eight in Township four north of Range sixty east of the Montana Meridian, Montana. After have not been settled in Montana for not overly long, his brother, Elias Tronstad came down from Norway and settled right next to his brother. On September 10, 1917, Elias settled down right next to his brother. Elias settled on north-half Section twenty-eight in Township four north of Range sixty east of the Montana Meridian, Montana. They both came and claimed 640 acres of land between the two of them. Back in the early 1900’s, 640 acres is more than enough, but soon enough the family grew and the land became very useful to all of them.
After years of building the farm, and the family. They started to use all 640 acres of land quicker then they thought, however back then there was not much more they could buy so they had to deal with it. They powered through made the land work and farmed it till they couldn’t anymore. Here now 104 years later we still own the land Hans Elias and the rest of the family, but still have a homestead house and still find old artifacts. Ways have changed alot since then and imagine what it will be 104 years down the road from now.
