Under ESEA Section 3121(a)(5), Atlanta Public Schools is mandated to report on the number and proportion of English Learners (ELs) who meet the rigorous State academic standards for four years following their exit from EL status. To fulfill this obligation, Atlanta Public Schools must provide the State with information regarding the academic performance of each EL student for every year during the four-year period subsequent to their attainment of English language proficiency and cessation of EL services.
Consequently, students who have transitioned out of EL status (designated as EL=1, 2, 3, & 4 monitored) are categorized in Infinite Campus for each year following their exit, for up to four years. This coding system enables the district and the state to monitor and report on the academic progress of these students in their content areas.
EL Subgroup for CCRPI
According to Georgia’s approved ESEA plan, all English Learners and all exited students coded EL= 1, 2, 3, & 4 monitored are included in the EL SUBGROUP for CCRPI accountability purposes.
