School districts and local schools have a legal obligation to provide school-home communication in a language parents can understand. This includes information about any program, service or activity offered by the school or district. District and school employees should remember that parents might have limited English proficiency even if their child is proficient in English. In an effort to support local schools in facilitating school-home communication with non-English speaking families, Multilingual Services & Programs provides translation and interpretation services. All APS employees may request translation/interpretation services via the employee landing page in MYAPS. Additional information is located at Multilingual Programs & Services School-Home Communication.
District and school employees wishing to submit official requests for translation and interpretation can make requests electronically at http://tinyurl.com/APSTranslationForm. Email questions about interpretation and translation to APStranslations@atlanta.k12.ga.us.
Translation and interpretation services are available at no charge to parents and guardians who require assistance in understanding all district and school related information. Parents, guardians or students who need assistance in a language other than English may call Multilingual Services & Programs at 404-802-7580 or email APSTranslations@atlanta.k12.ga.us.
