All English learners are required to participate in all state and locally mandated assessments. Federal law and State Board of Education Rule (160-3-1-.07) mandate that the individual needs of English learners be considered when making decisions regarding student supports. The ELTPC is charged with collecting required information documenting the student’s eligibility for EL status and making appropriate test participation decisions, including the use of test administration accommodations.
Note: A decision by the ELTPC indicating that no accommodations are needed must be documented in the student’s permanent records as well.
