As a component of the registration and data collection procedures, Atlanta Public Schools incorporates a "parent/guardian preferred language" field within the Infinite Campus system. This field is designed to capture and store the preferred language of parents or guardians for school-related communications. Specifically, for each newly enrolled student, Atlanta Public Schools gather information by asking parents or guardians a single question about their own language preference for receiving school communication. This data ensures that the school can effectively communicate with parents and guardians in a language they are most comfortable with, promoting clear and meaningful engagement between the school and families. The district utilizes multiple ways of communicating with parents in their preferred language including the use of tools such as WhatsApp, SeeSaw, Remind, Talking Points, and hosting weekly Wednesday meetings with Spanish-speaking parents.
