This year, the ACCESS for ELLs has been revised to align with the new ELD Standards Framework. It will consequently undergo standard-setting activities beginning in July 2026, with involvement from Georgia educators of multilingual students. Due to this revision, English Language Proficiency, as measured by ACCESS for ELLs, will be reported on a new scale. This means that scale scores from the 2025-2026 school year are not comparable to results from past administrations. However, performance standards, which delineate the performance levels, will remain constant for this school year to support timely reporting prior to standard setting; this means that performance levels from the 2025-2026 school year are comparable to those from past administrations.
Example: A 7th-grade student who receives a scale score of 418 in the 2025-2026 school year cannot be compared to a 7th-grade student who receives a scale score of 418 in prior years because the scales have changed. However, a 7th-grade student who receives an overall composite proficiency level of 5.2 in the 2025-2026 school year is directly comparable to a 7th-grade student who receives an overall composite proficiency level of 5.2 in prior years because the performance standards are held constant for this year.
Please keep comparability in mind when producing and interpreting summaries, as well as using individual student results for processes such as exit decisions. Note that WIDA has established processes with Georgia and other states to continue the calculation of ELP growth scores (SGPs) and to support the appropriate use of ACCESS for ELLs outcomes in accountability processes annually. Since performance levels in 2025- 2026 are comparable to previous years, there will be no impact on the Progress Toward English Language Proficiency indicator in the 2026 CCRPI.
