Identification

Student identification begins with the completion of the Home Language Survey responses within the student registration form. This form aligns with the Georgia Educator Decision-Marking Guide for Home Language Responses.

Follow the Processing students with a language other than English flowchart, and use the guiding questions and documents below to help you identify and process new students. Make sure to:

• Review your ESOL Program Status Report ESL001 to determine if there are new students in RED. - How do I pull an ESOL Program Status Report from IC?

• Obtain a copy of all pages of the Enrollment Form from the registrar and ensure that the responses to the HLS Statements match the district-defined elements in IC.

• Check if the student HAS attended a US school before.
