The overall goal of my project was to inform fishermen and recreational site users of the dangers of their current habits. I love to fish and really care about the health and safety of the Alaskan fish population. After noticing a lack of signage in the Matsu Valley, I put out signs at 9 different locations around the valley informing Alaskans the dangers if they continue without reguard for the fish population. The three main problems I targeted where littering, overuse of fertilizers, and pet feces. I felt like these issues have a major impact on the fish population in Alaska. I also put QR codes on the signs to inform fishermen of current regulations. If we do not change these three problems the fish species may be permanently and irreversibly impacted.
