The goal of my project was to advocate for the protection of our local trails. I did this by creating a flyer through Canva. This flyer was placed at varying trailheads in the valley. These trails included Government Peak, Lazy Mountain, Crevasse Moraine, and the Butte trailhead. This project is aimed towards advocating against overusing trails in breakup periods (Mar - Jun). I was measuring the impact it saw via QR code attached to the flyer. I gained a few responses so far about peoples feelings towards what the flyer informed them. All had been that they learned something new about the scale of their impact. Overall, the goal of this is to propose that people be more aware of the impact their usage in the spring has on the environment. I was in contact with Alan McClain at the MatSu Borough. He helped give me the idea for the spring focus. He also was a large help in getting the flyers up the levels in the Borough and getting it approved to be put out.Â
