The goal that I had set out to achieve was to inform people in our community about recycling and show that the landfill will restrict the use of the Crevasse Moraine Trails faster if we fill the landfill with things that are recyclable such as cardboard. I gave some positives by saying/showing how beautiful Alaska is, but I also explained some drawbacks such as plastic bags being a big issue in our community and how we don't recycle enough as a community. The landfill cells will eventually restrict use of the Crevasse Moraine Trails because of the rapid waste that we as humans produce, but we can control it if we recycle more. I made a video for people in our community to realize that if we recycle more, we are prolonging the life of the Crevasse Moraine Trails that are used by many people in our community and our School District. I did some interviews one of which was with Erin Leaders who was the Mat-Su Borough Program Coordinator from 2017-2021 and another with Pierce McDonough who is a state cross country runner at Colony High School and uses the trails consistently. Even though the landfill will eventually restrict the use of the Crevasse Moraine Trails, prolonging the use of them is the main point.
