The goal for my project was to spread awareness to the Mat Su Community. During the spring time there are a lot of people who do their spring cleaning and will go out and dump their trash out in random dead-end neighborhoods. They do this to save a few minutes and a few bucks by not going to the dump and properly throwing their trash away. In the Mat-Su Valley you can get fined up to five thousand, five hundred dollars for littering. Taking it to the dump usually doesn't cost more than twenty bucks, and a little extra time out of your day (maybe). This week I took a little time out of my day to go out and pick up trash left behind by litterers and take it to a dump to prove my point. It cost me seventeen dollars to dump two hundred and fifty pounds worth of garbage.
