I am so incredibly happy to have taken such a big part in a project creating such an impact on the beauty of the CHS and CMS campus. It wouldn't have been possible without all of the wonderful people involved. We were able to not only organize a school-wide event involving over 70 students and teachers, but collect 320 pounds of garbage off from the school grounds. Without the litter, our campus has never looked prettier, and remains safer for the local wildlife.
first paragraph of the longest email in the history of emails. I sent this out to all of the student and teacher volunteers to let them understand how the event would play out.
The process leading to the eventual success of my Campus Cleanup was a huge trial and error process. This event was only made successful through switching ideas and returning to the brainstorming square several times, many club meetings to bounce ideas off of teachers, classmates and the Mat-Su Solid Waste Center, and lots of advertisement.Â
Displayed to the right is a poster made by me including information on the cleanup. There were many wonderful teachers willing to share. their 4Cs time to dedicate themselves and students to the cause.
Thank you to Mr. Brown, Rice, LeCount, Strabel, and especially Hill, whom without, none of this would have had the turnout that it did.
Megan and me were so sweaty in our rubber gloves. The weather lined up perfectly to give us a great outdoor experience!
Key Club and ESC made sure to spread the word through numerous online and in person advertising. I made this instagram post myself.
A wonderfully detailed map made professionally by me with the "edit" option in the photos app on my iPhone. We were able to cover every yellow and pink portions of the map! Definitely more than I had hoped for in two hours.
Can't wait for next year to do this again with all the information I've gathered this time around. Together, ESC, Key Club, and CHS students were able to collect and properly dispose of 320 pounds of garbage from the CHS and CMS campuses with over 70 student volunteers. I'm so lucky to have such a wonderful team to work with that made this possible!
