Weekly Happenings
In writing workshop this week we learned that illustrators and authors often write about things that are important to them. We read the three Knuffle Bunny books by Mo Willems. They are stories of his daughter and her favorite stuffed animal. We shared stories of our favorite stuffies. Next we will be mapping our hearts to help inspire us as authors and illustrators. Our writing stamina has greatly increased over the past couple of weeks!
This week we continued to focus on our workstations and expectations during stations. When we are able to make it through stations without support from me or limited reminders of how to use our materials and voice level, I will be able to consistently read/do letter study/math groups. We spend the time we need at the start of the year to make this happen. This allows for a much more productive school year once we have it down!
Here are some photos of stations and work at our small group table:
In our study of weather, we have been learning about seasons. This week we did a sort of things that happen in each of the seasons. We have been working on learning when the seasons in Maine fall each year as we continue to learn the months of the year.
Dancing out the months of the year!
On Tuesday, we painted our rocks to help us keep our masks from blowing away at recess. Everyone has their own special rock!
This week we also watched the amazing process of our final two monarch caterpillars, change from caterpillar to chrysalis! We have been learning about the life cycle of the monarch butterfly and we completed our own life cycle sheets.
