ANNOUNCEMENTS
We did one more fairy tale activity and illustrated covers for our pretend fractured fairy tales. We learned how the cover often shows the important characters and the setting to get the reader interested!
To kick off our new unit of study on the solar system, we started to learn about the sun. We have been reading a variety of books on the sun. We have been learning about how Informational Texts are organized and similarities and differences between books on the same topic. As we continue to learn about the solar system, we will use our study to learn about informational text structure and informational writing.
As we have been learning about the sun, we have been practicing memorizing facts about the sun to help us with our learning of new information. To share the facts that we have been learning about the sun, we made sun hats!
Here is a video of us sharing the facts we have learned about the sun! If the video does not work in this site, the link is: https://youtu.be/wHDnc4iOym8
To continue our learning about the solar system, I created a library of books about the solar system on the app epic!. We learned how to access the books and have spent time reading and listening books to extend our learning!
On Friday we had fun making sun crafts. We scraped crayons on wax paper and melted them with an iron. We also watercolored sun shaped coffee filters. They all look so beautiful in our windows and brighten our classroom!
On Friday we read a book and learned about the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. We set a goal to do something kind for others on Monday to help remember all of the amazing things that he did to make the world a better place.
And here are a couple of photos from math groups this week...
