ANNOUNCEMENTS
100th day of school is now on Thursday, February 10th (this will change if we have another snow day). On that day we will be celebrating our first 100 days of school! We will be doing 100 projects. If you and your child would like, they may create a collection of 100 things to bring in and share! Examples are 100 mini marshmallows, 100 pennies, 100 paperclips. You may send in collections any time that week, starting on Monday, February 7th.
Monday, February 14th: Valentine's Day Party with Pre-K! I sent home the list of students this past week. If you need it again, I can send it again via email or backpack. If you are unable to send in Valentines, I will have extras in the classroom. If you let me know ahead of time, I can pick out ones that your child would like to give.
Week of February 14th: Stargazing night! As we get closer we will pick a night based on the weather and clear skies. To go along with our solar system unit will we be gazing at the stars and moon through telescopes and enjoying hot chocolate to warm up. Currently the 15th is looking like it might be clear. We'll make a decision soon!
February 21-25: February Vacation
LOST AND FOUND
The following items have been in our classroom for awhile and none of the kids recognize them. Please let me know if they belong to you!
This week in our solar system study this week, we have continued learning about the planets in the solar system. We also took some time this week to learn all about the moon and the phases of the moon.
On February 1st, we learned about Groundhog Day and made predictions. We went about our predictions in a scientific way by brainstorming how we could predict if Punxutawney Phil would see his shadow or not. We decided to listen to the weather forecast for where Phil lives. We then made our predictions! On Groundhog Day, we watched the ceremonies and learned that Punxutawney Phil saw his shadow- another 6 weeks of winter it is!
In art, everyone finished painting their dragons! Mrs. Linders had our artists plan their dragons on paper, create them in clay, and then paint them. They are currently on display in our hallway.
A few photos of kindergarten math group from the week.
With all of the snow, we have been having fun digging holes and sledding during recess!
