ANNOUNCEMENTS
This week in reading workshop we started a study of folktales and fairy tales. We read multiple versions of The Three Little Pigs. We learned that fairy tales and folktales often have special beginnings (Once upon a time) and endings (and they lived happily ever after). We also started to look more in depth at the plot and have learned that stories always have a problem and a solution. After Thanksgiving break, we will be putting on our architecture hats on and doing some fun activities related to the three pigs. On Friday, we drew out plans for a straw houses.
On Monday we started our first chess lesson. We learned which way the board faces and learned about pawns and how they move. We learned a game called the pawn game and practiced playing with one another.
Here is a look at some of our math stations and groups this week!
In art on Tuesday, Mrs. Linders did a fun turkey project. She also left us with another project that we completed on Friday. We created paper quilt squares of things we were thankful for. The other classrooms are also working on this project and our "quilt" will be hanging in the gymnasium. I'll be sure to get a picture!
On Thursday afternoon, we had our first book buddy time! We partnered with students in Mrs. Jones' class. They read books to us and we read books from our book bags to them! It is so wonderful so see students sharing the love of reading with one another.
