“Excellence is not a skill. It is an attitude.” - Ralph Marston
Students have 30 minutes a day of dedicated careers, aspirations and personal development time across KS3-5.
Careers and RSE/PSHE both employ a progressive spiral curriculum. This allows content to be age appropriate and also increase in depth and complexity over time which is proven to aid retention.
These lessons are largely discussion based but will also follow expectations in line with the academic curriculums such as recall questions, book aids and knowledge organisers, topic tests etc.
British values typically refer to a set of principles and ideals that are considered important in the United Kingdom. These values are integral to maintaining a cohesive and respectful society. The core British values commonly referenced include:
Democracy: The belief in a democratic system where power is vested in the people, who exercise it directly or through elected representatives.
The Rule of Law: The principle that all individuals and institutions are subject to and accountable under the law that is fairly applied and enforced.
Individual Liberty: The right of individuals to have the freedom to make their own choices, provided they do not infringe on the rights of others.
Mutual Respect and Tolerance: Respecting and valuing others’ beliefs, cultures, and backgrounds, and promoting a harmonious and inclusive society where diversity is celebrated.
Respect for Different Faiths and Beliefs: Acknowledging and appreciating different religious beliefs and practices, fostering a climate of understanding and coexistence.

The curriculum is split into six core themes: Relationships and Sex Education, Sex, Careers, Social awareness, Character and learning, Health Education.
The programme of learning follows the ‘Explore: PSHE’ Programme of Study and also DfE Statutory Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) and Health Education documents. We have also included aspects of UKCCIS (UK Council for Child Internet Safety) Education for a Connected World.
