AVAILABLE RESOURCES:

Faculty of Medicine, University of Valparaíso: The Faculty and School of Medicine has many facilities available to develop research at the “Bruno Günther” building. I have full free access to all of this equipment. 

Group of Molecular Pathophysiology: Faculty of Medicine - Bruno Günther building – Hontaneda 2664, Valparaiso. 150 m2 distributed in: 

General equipment: Water distiller, water purification system (bidistiller), autoclave. 2 fridge -80. 3 refrigerated (4oC) room, 1 Fume hood, Ice machine. 

Unit of Immunohistochemistry and Histochemistry (I&H): (40 m2) Microtome, vibratome and cryostat for fixation and inclusion of biological samples. 2 Universal incubators; 1 refrigerator; 1 hybridization oven; 1 set of micropipettes; 1 magnetic stirrer with heating; 1 Orbital shaker; 1 analytical weight, 1 digital weight; 1 paraffin dispenser; 1 dry bath for Eppendorf tubes. 2 microtomes; 1 flotation histological bath; 1 pHmeter; 1 cryostat; 1 tissue homogenizer, 1 solvent hood. 

Unit of Molecular Biology: 30 m2 distributed as follows: Molecular biology, sample preparation, DNA extraction (pre-PCR); PCR and post-PCR areas; 1 spectrophotometer; laminar flow hood for PCR sample preparation; 2 PCR machines; 2 Power supplies BIORAD-3000; 1 horizontal electrophoresis chamber. 1 digital image capture hood with uv transilluminator. Equipment: 2 PCR machines (PE 2400 and Bio-Rad); 1 refrigerated microfuge (eppendorf 5314); nucleic acid electrophoresis chambers; table top refrigerated centrifuge (Beckman TJ-6); 1 refrigerator; 2 -30oC fridges; 1 pHmeter; 1 magnetic stirrer; 1 oscillating stirrer; 1 ELISA reader; 1 ELISA plate incubator; 1 ELISA plate washer; 1 analytical weight. 

Unit of Biochemistry (30 m2): Electrophoresis chambers and power source (Biorad), pHmeter (Hanna Instruments), variable speed handheld homogenizer, dry and water thermoregulated baths, magnetic stirrer , Vortex mixer , Light and fluorescence microscopy, microcentrifuges, spectrophotometer, analytical balance, ELISA reader. (buffers and solutions preparation) Reagents, Glassware and plasticware; 2 Magnetic stirrers with heating block; 2 pH meters; 1 laminar flow cabinet; 2 thermostatic water bath; 1 universal incubator; 1 precision weight 

Unit of Cell culture (20m2): Certified laminar flow cabinet, CO2 conventional incubator; water bath; 150 liters Nitrogen container; This unit is divided into two principal sections: 1) Tissue and primary culture Bank and 2) tumor and cell lines bank. 

Unit of Fluorescence (30 m2): Structural and Cellular Function Laboratory (EFC Lab – Olivero Lab): Flow cytometer (FACScalibur, BD Biosciences, CA, USA) whit FACSDiva software (BD Biosciences, CA, USA), Motorized epifluorescence microscope (Olympus IX81, Japan) whit Software - Cell R, equipment for cell response real time
