Poetry
Walt: Write a Haiku Poem - What am I?
A Haiku Poem is a traditional form of Japanese poetry.
These poems have 3 lines.
The first and third line have 5 syllables
The second line has 7 syllables.
(It does not have to rhyme)
They are short and should be recognisable to the reader.

Walt: Write a Limerick poem
A Limerick poem has 5 lines.
The first, second and fifth line rhyme and they have 8 or 9 syllables
The third and fourth line rhyme and they have 5 or 6 syllables
Poetry
Walt: Write a diamante poem using nouns, verbs, adjectives, synonyms and antonyms
Poetry is another expression of writing. It is a lot of fun.
Diamante poems are only seven lines and set out in the shape of a diamond. You can write your poems in here then screenshot it or copy it and paste it into a google drawing to post to your blog.
Subject (noun)
Two describing words (adjectives)
Three -ing words (verbs)
Four nouns about the subject (nouns)
Three -ing words (verbs)
Two describing words (adjectives)
Similar or opposite word to subject (synonyms/antonyms)
Use this link to help you find positive words for each letter of your name. Each line must be a simile, making a comparison to something that relates to the adjective.
Here is dictionary to help find out what some tricky words mean if you’re unsure.
WALT: write a positive descriptive acrostic poem using your name and similes
Testing: Recount
Time with friends
You have just had a time when you’ve done something special with your friends and classmates.
Write to recount that time.
Write about:
when and where you did something special
who was with you
what you did (think about the order you did things)
how you felt and why you felt this way.
Remember to:
choose your words carefully
write in full sentences
take care with your spelling and punctuation
give your writing a title if you want to
check your work: read it through and fix any mistakes you find
Report Writing: New Zealand Native Animal
Walt: Report factual information about a New Zealand Native Animal or Creature
You must choose one animal or creature
Research and find out lots of information about your animal
(Habitat, Characteristics, Description, Diet, Interesting Facts)
Write a plan for each paragraph in your writing
