Week 9

Onomatopoeia is a word that mimics the sound of the object or action it refers to. When you pronounce a word, it will mimic its sound.

WALT: We are learning to use onomatopoeia to help create interest in our writing.

Activity:

Choose an onomatopoeia to draw - think about what the word is used to mimic the sound of. Draw on a piece of A4, colour, cut out and take a photo to display on your blog.

Write an explanation of learning and USE your onomatopoeia in a sentence.

e.g

Zip! My dress was fastened and I was finally ready for the wedding.

It was lovely to wake up to the tweet of the birds outside my bedroom window.

“Compliments to the chef,” roared the giant as he let out a huge belch.

My teeth were chattering as we waited in the freezing cold for the bus to arrive.
