Egg Friend Race
Walt: think about my purpose and reader by planning my recount.
Instructions:
You are going to be writing a full recount about your experiences during the Egg Friend Race with your teacher.
Plan
Open the planning template.
With your class you are going to be discussing potential vocabulary that you could use for your recount.
You will need to decide what the purpose of your recount is going to be. The purpose will help guide your recount, and help you write the recount for your reader.
You will also need to plan your paragraphs. Your paragraphs should be guided by the chosen purpose of your recount.
Writing
Open the writing template.
You will need to copy across paragraph plan, and the purpose of your writing from the planning template.
Begin writing when your teacher starts the timer. You will only have 45 minutes to complete your recount.
Publishing to your blog
Remember to check your writing for punctuation and spelling errors.
Include an appropriate title and image.
Write the WALT
Write a description of the learning. Remember this experience was about writing a recount that thinks about the purpose and reader. Explain what you did to achieve this.

Market Day
Walt: write an interesting and detailed recount .
Instructions:
You are going to be writing a full recount about your experiences at our Market day. You will need to be thinking about the proper features of a recount and using the rubrics to help guide your writing.
Plan
Open the template. You will see that 2 of the paragraphs have been planned for you, but two of them have been left blank. You will need to discuss with a partner and then the class, what you think should be in your recount.
Introduction
With your class you will discuss the elements of a good introduction. After writing you will be able to score yourself against the introduction rubric, and then given some time to improve your writing.
Following paragraphs
You will now have the opportunity to write your following paragraphs and conclusion.

Poem
Walt: write a poem using nouns, verbs, and adjectives.
Instructions:
Following the specific structure given to you by your teacher, you are going to be writing your own poems using nouns, verbs, and adjectives.
With your teacher you will discuss the structure of the poem,. and complete an example together.
The structure will be:
1 Noun
2 Verbs
3 Adjectives
1 Verb

What could it be?
Walt: use our inferencing skills to find meaning in the text.
Instructions:
You are going to be taking on the role of a reading and writing detective. Your first case is a short one, yet none the less still tricky. Your teacher is going to be showing you a poem, however only a portion of the poem at a time. It is your job to try and figure out what the poem is about, at each point as the rest of the poem is given to you.
Your second case is to read a passage of text that has words omitted. It will be your job to use your detective skills to solve the case of the missing words.
Your third case is another poem. You will need to use your detective skills to figure out what the poem is out, based on the clues that your teacher reveals to you.

As the teacher reveals the parts of the poem. You will need to write down your ideas about what the poem is about.
You will need to come up with multiple ideas at each point.
You will need to complete the work within the allocated time given by your teacher.
Open the cloze reading task - Number one
Wait for your teachers instructions.
You will need to work on the doc with a partner. One of you will need to share the doc with the other so you can work on it collaboratively.
You in a partner will have the allocated time to fill in and reveal the hidden words based on words you know, that will make the story make sense.

Follow the same instructions as above.

The Trade Fair
Walt: use language that paints a picture in the mind of our reader.
Instructions:
Think back to our trade fair. You are going to be writing a recount about the trade fair and include as much details and information that you can so that you really paint a vivid image in the mind of your reader.
Open the writing doc
In peers discuss why it is important to think about the audience and purpose for your writing.
In your peers think of and discuss different vocab that might be useful or required in your writing.
Read and discuss the recount examples by students in the senior block.
Complete the trade fair writing doc while continuing to think about how you can paint a picture in the mind of your reader.
Using the paragraph rubric check your work with a buddy.
Publish your work to your blog, be sure to follow the before you blog guidelines and include a task description.

Food Critics
Walt: use language that paints a picture in the mind of our reader.
Instructions:
Following the experience with your teacher you will need to fill out the Taste Observation Chart.
This is where you will note down your raw feelings about the product.
Later you will be given a chance to recraft your feelings into sentences that you can potentially use for your review.
Once you have recrafted your Taste Observation sheet you can start writing your review.
Open the template and read over the template.
You can use the the example to help you get a feel for what a review should look like.
As you write, and later when you recraft your review, have a look at the "Food review Lingo" link. This has lots of descriptive and emotive language that will help you paint a picture in the mind of your reader.

Walt: persuade the reader to agree with our message.
Instructions:
Listen to the instructions given by your teacher about searching for and finding advertisements.
Share the adverts you have found with a partner.
Report back to the class.
Discuss the style of writing that advertisements have.

Re-write paragraph by paragraph as instructed by your teacher.
Job Application
Walt: write an application for a job
Instructions:
Open the Job list and see which job you would like to apply for.
Open the template and begin working on your application.
This week you are going to be writing an application for a job here at school. You can choose from a list of jobs or even create your own. Remember to think about and add into your application why you would be good for the job and what characteristics you have that make you the best applicant. Have fun and those who are able to make me laugh and keep me interested are more likely to get the job!
Million Dollars at the Mall
Walt: write effective paragraphs using juicy and exciting words.
Instructions:

Write about what you would buy from the mall if you had a million dollars from different stores, including JB Hifi, Toyworld, and Footlocker.
