Rita Louise O'Brien. March 17, 1958 - January 15, 2015
Rita was born to Robert and Elizabeth Jarvis and raised in Lawn on the Burin Peninsula NL. She moved to Fort McMurray, AB along with her husband, Billy about thirty five years ago where they raised their two sons Chad and Jeffrey, she was also the proud owner of two fur babies (small dogs).
While her sons attended school, Rita provided day care from her own home, caring for two small children. Rita often told the story of one little girl who never wanted to leave and this is quite understandable knowing the love and passion Rita had for children.
After her sons graduated from high school and moved out on their own, their mom often spoke of them with great pride. Approximately ten years ago, her oldest son married and Rita was blessed with two granddaughters of her own, Paige and Taylor, whom she loved more than life itself. Apart from work, Rita spent her time with family and spoiling her two beautiful granddaughters.
In 2003, Rita took up a position as a custodian with FMPSD where she gave it her best. She was a very dedicated worker, great team player and had an awesome sense of humour. Rita was a pleasure to work with.
At the lunch table, Rita's favourite foods were Mary Brown's chicken, taters, plain chips, Dairy Milk bars, and Pepsi. Occasionally we still have these meals in memory of her.
Rest in Peace Rita. Your name is often mentioned and you are fondly remembered by your friends and co-workers at Westwood High School.

George Scott Decker was born to Annie and George Decker of Joe Batt's Arm, NL, on October 15, 1956.
In 1980 George moved out west to Alberta, and began his teaching career with FMPSD in 1981. He arrived to his first school on his motorcycle in full leather gear.
Throughout his 30 year career in Education, 25 of those years were with Fort McMurray Schools. From 1996 to 2012 George was integral in the development of the IOP program at Timberlea School, was VIce Principal at Dr. K.A. Clark and Fort McMurray Composite High School, completed a Master's Degree with honours, and finished his career as "Papa Bear" the Principal of Beacon Hill School. He and his wife Mary retired back to their home in Joe Batt's Arm in 2012.
Sadly, his time was short. Even facing illness, George participated in life to the fullest; travelling, fishing, golfing, riding his motorcycle, building his shed, writing, and spending time with family, friends and being Poppy George to his beloved grandchildren. George leaves to cherish his memory his family, and a wide circle of friends, students and colleagues.
He was a wise, caring man who will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
