Alexandra Parsons
Alexandra has been teaching in Fort McMurray for 9 years, and has been at Greely Road School for her entire career with FMPSD. She has taught grade 6 and grade 3, and for the last 4 years has been the LAC teacher for Greely Road School. During this time period Alexandra has been an Understanding by Design coach, District Tribes trainer, RTI instructional leader at Greely, Teacher mentor, and as well as provider of Literacy support to students and teachers. Her passion is with the special needs students of Greely Road School for helping them reach their full potential. By working with the students, teachers, parents and the specialized services that are available, Alexandra has helped these students reach their programming goals and see success both academically and socially. She has worked hard on creating and utilizing interventions for students such as LLI, Precision Reading, Guided Math and Reading groups, behavioral plans, and sensory profiles.
Her most recent project involved the Food Bank fundraiser - CanStruction where she and a student team built a structure out of food cans. Alexandra is originally from PEI where she lived with her parents and 3 siblings on the family farm. Upon completion of high school she moved to Halifax to earn her Criminology degree and then to Maine for her Education degree. Now living in Fort McMurray with her husband David, she now has 2 little children- Nathan and Ainsley who keep her very busy. Together as a family they enjoy travelling and every summer pack up and drive across Canada to visit their Eastern family members. When Alexandra isn’t spending time with her family, she enjoys hanging out with friends, being active and usually the one you can hear from laughing miles away.
