Chris Organ
Originally from Halifax, Chris Organ joined the Fort McMurray Public School District in 2005 following a short teaching assignment in Lac La Biche. He has had the pleasure to work at three schools in the district, Greely Road, Beacon Hill and currently at Westview Public School, teaching grade 6. During his time at FMPSD, he has had the opportunity to experience different roles in education including a variety of teaching assignments and administration. Chris is an active volunteer in the school and is demonstrates a commitment to “Doing What’s Best for Kids”. Some of the activities he has introduced to students include stained glass, drama, and robotics; but has a true passion for helping kids discover basketball (he admits this is an odd love; as he describes himself as “a short man in a tall man’s game”).Chris’ favorite part about teaching is when students experience the “aha moments”. Developing relationships and rapport with students and families are important to him as well as the bonds made with school staff. His connections with students are evident in his daily interactions in the classroom and around the school.
Being an educator continues to be rewarding for Chris. He looks forward to many more enjoyable years working with youth.
