Dykstra, Derek

Derek Dykstra moved to Fort McMurray from from Hopewell Nova Scotia in 2005. He taught with the District for the past ten years. During his time in Fort Mcmurray, he worked at Greely Road, teaching grade 7 and 8, for 6 years and grade 5 and 6 for the other 2 years. Derek is now working at the Physical Education teacher at Timberlea School. Derek has been married to Nichole Dykstra (Stockely) for the last 3 years.

He recently built a summer home in Scotsburn Nova Scotia where they spend their summers on the beach, playing golf, going to classic car shows, and visiting family. Previously, Derek has been nominated for the Excellence in Teaching Award and he is the recent recipient of the Apple Penguin Award for Apple Schools.
