Course Overview


   The goal of the FDMS NJROTC program is to teach and instill the values of citizenship, service to the United States of America, personal responsibility, and a sense of accomplishment.  In general, the curriculum is meant to provide a balance of classroom studies, military performance, physical fitness, and unit activities.  The course will include numerous field trips and service-learning activities.

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:


Leadership and Ethics (Naval Science 4) Selected Readings in Naval Leadership for NJROTC Students Textbook and Cultural Studies: An Introduction to Global Awareness Textbook:


  • a. Discuss Ethics and Basic Principles of Leadership.

  • b. Explain the various case studies of actual situations involving leadership decisions.

  • c. Understand the roles of the leaders in an organization and how effective communication is achieved.

  • d. Learn about the world’s cultures.

  • e. Introduce to students the study of world affairs, regional studies, and cultural awareness.
