Course Overview


   The goal of the FDMS NJROTC program is to teach and instill the values of citizenship, service to the United States of America, personal responsibility, and a sense of accomplishment.  In general, the curriculum is meant to provide a balance of classroom studies, military performance, physical fitness, and unit activities.  The course will include numerous field trips and service-learning activities.


Course Objectives

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:


Cadet Field Manual (CFM) and Cadet Reference Manual (CRM):


  • a. Demonstrate the proper wear and care of military uniform.

  • b. Recognize the various ranks, pay grades, ribbons, and U.S. Navy Signal Flags.

  • c. Perform various military personnel inspections, drills, performances, and Cadet Challenge.

  • d. Learn and understand military organization, social skills/etiquette, customs, and courtesies.



Introduction to NJROTC Program Textbook:



  • a. Explain the background and purpose of the NJROTC program.

  • b. Differentiate basic leadership theories and principles.

  • c. Understand the meaning of citizenship and government.

  • d. Describe the armed forces organization and its role in the Department of Defense.

  • e. Interpret the role of the Navy and recognize its ships, aircrafts, and weapons.
