Code No. 508.2R1
Sunday Practices
Generally, as a rule, the school district facilities will not be used for student activities on Sundays. Exceptions to this may only be granted by prior approval from the Activities Director. If the Activities Director is not available, prior approval may be obtained from the high school principal or superintendent in that succession.
Exceptions to this rule are as follows:
· Sunday practices/rehearsals may be approved to allow programs to prepare for post-season contests scheduled for the following Monday or Tuesday.
· Sunday practices may be approved to allow the varsity team to prepare for football playoffs if the playoff game is scheduled for a Wednesday.
Sunday practice management:
· Sunday practices/rehearsals will not begin before 2:00 P.M., may not exceed 2 hours in duration, and must end on or before 7:00 P.M.
· Sunday practices/rehearsals will be held only for Davis County CSD students and is intended for varsity players/participants only. Sub-varsity players/participants may be granted this exception when requested by the coach/sponsor and approved by the Activities Director and parents.
· Sunday practices/rehearsals are NOT mandatory. It shall be understood by coaches/sponsors, students, and parents, that all Sunday practices/rehearsals are optional and that no self-imposed or outside pressures to attend shall exist. Parents may choose not to allow their child to attend a Sunday practice/rehearsal without fear or concern of any type of reprisal against the student athlete in terms of position or playing time.
The facilities may be used by the community in compliance with board policy, “Community Use of School District Facilities.”
It shall be the responsibility of the superintendent to implement this policy.
