409.1 Licensed Employee Vacation - Holidays - Personal Leave

Employee Vacation

All regular full-time employees who work forty (40) hours per week, twelve (12) months per year, are entitled to ten (10) days’ vacation with pay during June or July or as arranged with the Superintendent. One day of paid vacation for each subsequent year of continuous employment will be added up to a maximum of 20 days of vacation per employee. All regular full-time employees who work forty (40) hours per week, 240 (or more) days per year, are entitled to ten (10) days of paid vacation to be taken in July. Employees may be permitted to take their vacation during the school year if their workloads permit. Vacation will not be accrued from year to year without a prior arrangement with the superintendent and then must be used before September 30.

Paid vacation days for administrators shall be as negotiated with the Board of Directors. Vacation will not be accrued from year to year without a prior arrangement with the superintendent and then must be used before September 30.

Employee Holidays

The following listed days are recognized by the Davis County Community School District as paid holidays:

(1) Labor Day

(2) Thanksgiving Day

(3) Christmas Day

(4) New Years Day

(5) Washington’s Birthday

(6) Memorial Day

(7 ) Independence Day

Employees who work 190 days or less are eligible to be paid for numbers 1 - 5.

Employees who work more than 190 days but less than 245 are eligible to be paid for number 1 –6.

Employees who work more than 245 days are eligible to be paid for all listed holidays.

When a holiday falls on a Saturday, the day before shall be considered the holiday. When a holiday falls on a Sunday, the day after shall be considered the holiday. Should an employee be called in to work by the Superintendent, or designee on a paid holiday, an equivalent amount of time shall be added to the earned vacation time for full-time, regular employees. In the case of regular part-time employees, pay shall be at one and one-half the regular current rate to be paid on the next scheduled payroll date.

Employee Personal Leave

Personal leave will be granted upon request to each employee provided a qualified substitute is available. Employees are entitled to a maximum of 2 days leave during the first school year of employment. The leave may be taken in ¼ day segments. Employees may carry over 3 days of unused personal leave for use in the following school year. The leave can be accumulated up to a maximum of 5 days each school year. The superintendent may approve emergency leave, without pay, if leave is not available under any other provision. Employees will be compensated for unused personal leave at the current rate of pay for a substitute in a similar position. Employees must notify Central Office by the first Friday of June of their intent for compensation of days and/or carry over of 3 days of unused personal leave.
