- Ciné-Anthropology: For A New Anthropological Practice (Serica Shobo, 2014, in Japanese), which I edited with Seiji Murao and Masatoshi Kubo, is expected to be available from May 21, 2014 on (including at Japanese online bookstores).
- I have contributed three chapters (below), five short texts and the organization of the book.
-"Introduction: From Anthropology to Ciné-Anthropology"
-"The inventions of Jean Rouch: ciné-anthropology of 'other-becoming' "
-"Jean Rouch the cinéaste: His fiction films and their relationship with the Nouvelle Vague", written with Aya Ogawara.
- Initially I was only planning to translate some of Rouch's texts into Japanese for this book, but I ended up writing two substantial chapters (one with Ogawara) covering Rouch's entire work, from his initial ethnographic films in Niger through the Nouvelle Vague films up to Dionysos and the films of the later years. I have also written the Introduction of the book, imagining a new kind of anthropological practice implied by the immense work of the ciné-anthropologist Rouch, from whom anthropology has learned so little.
