Fortnight Follies

Introducing a new Game of Creative Writing: Fortnight Follies

It is said that art imitates life. In the life of an Explorer in the online game of Myst Online ~ Uru Live, we visit many fabulous Ages that have been created by means of the Art.

But the arts, in general, are often quite modest in scope.

And so I would like to invite everyone in the various Uru communities to join in a new creative game that I shall call Fortnight Follies. Here is how it works …

Pick some recent event in the Uru Community and translate your experience into poetry, Haiku, cartoon, comic strip, dialogue sketch, song parody, essay, satire, lampoon or any other imaginative, amusing, whimsical bit of artistic literature.

Entries in this contest may also comprise a Mystery Puzzle in which the challenge will be to decode the submission and (perhaps privately) provide the explanation of what recent event it refers to or is an amusing send-up of.

Specific events being memorialized or caricatured must have happened no more than two weeks prior to the player's submission of their entries.

Respondents may also rate entries with Like/Love/Haha/Wow/Boo/Hiss, etc. The entries receiving the most Like/Love/Wow/Funny/Fabulous reactions over the succeeding fortnight will be added to a growing anthology.

If your entry is simple text (e.g. a poem, anecdote, fable, or short story), or a simple graphic image, you might just post it directly on a Facebook thread in any of the Uru-affiliated groups or on your personal Facebook TimeLine. You can also post your entries on Uru-affiliated forums, on other social network sites, or even on your own personal web sites.

If your entry includes cryptic elements, you can invite respondents to decode any embedded references and guess what experience or event your entry is a riff on.

Be creative and have fun!
