Jeff Berkeley
Sometimes a mentoring session succeeds fabulously. And sometimes not.
This is an example of the latter.
I'm not selling anything. I'm trying to get as close as I can to the truth, as much of a fool's errand that appears nowadays. You do not have to read anything I say or suggest...I hope you at least give it a chance.
By the way, I will be ceasing the posting of anything on Facebook shortly. For the third time in the past five months, a complete post and discussion has completely disappeared from my FB page. FB has no explanation for it at all...will not answer my queries about them.
Remember a couple of things from Proverbs...
Prov 21:2 -- Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the Lord pondereth the hearts.
Prov 12:15 -- The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise.
Karen Johnson Brown Facebook wants the light to go out on FB.. because their agenda is darkness light must remain.
Jeff Berkeley I will post a link to my personal blog instead. There I will put up my latest math art pieces as well. Love you, Sheila!
Barry Kort When you were a student or instructor in college, how did you (or other students) feel when a day's worth of research mysteriously went missing?
Jeff Berkeley I would be at a loss. And a bit pissed off too. Never lost a student paper in forty years however...not a single one.
This is the third time this has happened (that I know of). No explanation. No answer to my queries. Come to find out this is not at all that uncommon on FB and other social media. It has even happened to other friends.
Whatever we talked about, whatever you researched, can certainly be found again...maybe look through your browser history and so forth. If you have a keystroker program, you can retrace your steps.
Barry Kort The way FB pages are constructed, browsers cannot cache them. Sometimes, if I have a premonition that a correspondent will intentionally delete a discussion thread, I'll expressly save it.
But I had no such worry yesterday. FB redacted the page long after you and I went offline for the night.
Jeff Berkeley What I meant was, as I recall, you went to a variety of sources and posted information to make your points. Should be easy enough to relocate those.
I guess you do not use a key logging program; I don't either. I used to recommend them to parents who suspected their kids of doing untoward things online.
The first I heard of this latest incident is you telling me about it this morning.
I cannot trust these folks. Left-wing, right-wing, gull-wing I don't care. I will start a private weblog instead and converse there...sort of like what you have done.
Barry Kort The obvious hypothesis is that someone reported your post because the video of Savannah equates BLM protestors to terrorists and to Nazi Brownshirts — an unfair (not to mention illogical) comparison which is what got Savannah into trouble in the first place. Note that FB was being inconsistent in redacting your post, but not Savannah's original video.
It took me all day to debunk Savannah's long litany of complaints about the BLM protesters, mainly by showing that her values were at odds with the values taught in the Old and New Testaments.
I was hoping that after demonstrating how to refute the first few of them, you would take a turn at refuting the next group, but in the end, I was obliged to do 100% of the work. Having once been an educator yourself, can you imagine how much that irked me?
I did say hello to Christie, as you requested, but I won't embarrass you by revealing what she said about yesterday's day-long colloquy.
Jeff Berkeley You're a saint, okay? Sheesh.
Everyone has an opinion - everyone has a right to voice one - everyone thinks they have the inside track. So what's new?
Barry Kort So what's not new is that under normal conditions, 20% of the people do 80% of the work.
Yesterday, 50% of the participants did 100% of the work.
Barry Kort No way. I need something from you in return for all hard work I did yesterday at your behest.
I need back a copy of all the material I handed to you.
Jeff Berkeley YOU chose to comment on that post. YOU chose to open your fat mouth. I never asked you to say squat. Bugger off. Next comment will have you unfriended. Permanently.
Barry Kort You begged and pleaded with me to answer your questions, I answered them in the hopes that you would be motivated to learn how to construct the answers on your own, without requiring anyone else to do the thinking for you.
Now man up, Professor Berkeley, and exhibit some scholarly ethics, worthy of someone professing a Masters of Science in Physics.
Jeff Berkeley I will post a link to my personal blog instead. There I will put up my latest math art pieces as well. Let me develop a good model. I have to finish my 2020 line of fractal imagery and post that to my lifesmith.com website in addition.
