Robert Conan Ryan
Holleeeee sheeeeit
I don't support Trump but this is funny
I keep begging myself: Stop. It’s too much. Time to move on. One can go to far, but NOO. This is “The Aristocrats” of political farce. It’s the gift that keeps giving.......

Robert Conan Ryan Barry Kort she's good people.
If you can't make fun of your leadership, you're done for
Robert Conan Ryan Honestly she is the closest representative to radical centrism we have in Congress.
Sean Ryan Robert Conan Ryan Is she? She seems pretty progressive to me. But she's tough as nails and she'll stand up to financial interests.
Sean Ryan Robert Conan Ryan Maybe, Maybe not, but I’m on her mailing list and she’s definitely a partisan creature, not a centrist.
Sean Seaberg She's grating and likely very ideological in nature. I've seen her and she has the talking points down. Not sure I trust it at all, there's always something I don't trust anymore in hyper liberals I can usually catch them trip up on in discussion. That concerns me and this whole situation is ending it for her before it begins, but Democrats don't seem to understand or care from what I can tell.
Sean Ryan Sean Seaberg The situation with Warren is a non-issue - it's just a gaffe, and shouldn't really be taken very seriously. But it is a good opportunity to do a bit of poking over idpol issues, so people are taking it.
Sean Seaberg Sean Ryan I think if they make her their candidate this poking actually belittles her chances to the point of mockery...she can't recover from it as petty as it seems. Trump grinds things in a way that seems to work like a popular chaotic class president DB that just crushes his opponents with mockery until it sticks.
Sean Ryan Sean Seaberg Along those lines, I think it shows she's not in the same league as Trump in terms of petty insults and branding mind games. The trick with Trump is keeping your cool without looking stuck-up. Obama would have kicked his ass by taking the high road, but Clinton was just so unlikable.
Sean Seaberg Sean Ryan I can see that. I'm still high on Dwayne Johnson taking the run. Landslide all day. Saving face too.

Barry Kort Are you prepared to find out the hard way?
Abuse is one of the top unsolved problems in the annals of human civilization.
Attend, sir. Attend.

Barry Kort Trump and the Republicans have gone off the deep end, corruptly gaming the system.

Barry Kort Wikipedia lists over one hundred distinct species of abuse.
One of them is gaming the system.
Barry Kort Mr. Ryan, if you still have any doubts where I am coming from, go see Jon Awbrey.

Robert Conan Ryan Barry Kort so met me get this straight: the reason why you have a problem with my post is because you believe that it is counterproductive to a "world without abuse"..
I'm not a hypersensitive person. I'm cut from the countercultural cloth, not the handwringing hypersensitive cloth.
I like risky things like humor, psychedelics, and controversial ideas.
I have more in common with Hunter S Thompson, a man who ran with the Hell's Angels for a good story, than I do with diversicrat academic administrators who try to make sure that every special snowflake never encounters hardship, conflict, controversy, or dangerous ideas.
I believe that kids learn to swim when you THROW them in the pool: that's how I learned. I believe that South Park is a funny TV show, not comedic "abuse".
I do not like rubber walls and padded rooms, not even Democrat rubber walls and padded rooms.
you can go about your crusade to eliminate all abuse, but all you will create, in its, stead is a "pig in a cage on antibiotics", to quote Radiohead.
Robert Conan Ryan "A heart that's full up like a landfill
A job that slowly kills you
Bruises that won't heal
You look so tired and unhappy
Bring down the government
They don't, they don't speak for us
I'll take a quiet life
A handshake of carbon monoxide
And no alarms and no surprises
No alarms and no surprises
No alarms and no surprises
Silent, silent
This is my final fit, my final bellyache with
No alarms and no surprises
No alarms and no surprises
No alarms and no surprises please
Such a pretty house, such a pretty garden
No alarms and no surprises (let me out of here)
No alarms and no surprises (let me out of here)
No alarms and no surprises please (let me out of here)"
Barry Kort Once, again, Mr. Ryan, you betray yourself by cavalierly postulating yet another haphazard theory of mind:
H₄ (Mr. Ryan's Working Hypothesis #4) ~ Barry Kort has a problem with Mr. Ryan's post is because Kort believes that it is counterproductive to a "world without abuse".
Is that an accurate statement of your newest working hypothesis?
If so, please state the corresponding null hypothesis and reveal to me what measures you undertook to falsify both the null hypothesis and H₄. What is your evidence, analysis, and reasoning to either affirm or falsify H₄?
Robert Conan Ryan Barry Kort if you did not intend to make that statement, delete you rpost about "100 forms of abuse"
Robert Conan Ryan Barry Kort I cant keep up with your mental gymnastics of trying to prove that I'm illogical here.
I gave you smoking gun evidence that native Americans REJECTED her claims. IF that doesnt' work for you, then you have cognitive bias the size of the grand canyon

Roman Kalik Warren is not good at playing the Trump game. She should have tried to change the rules... Which is precisely what earned Trump his past and current victories. He didn't play the game by the rules - he changed the game.
It is now his game.

Chris Chardon The thing about it is, Trump outmaneuvered her in every way possible.
1) Legal. He said he'd donate if he tossed her a DNA test during a debate and she "found out she was Indian". The first two conditions have not been met, so he doesn't owe her anything according to contract law.
2) What is "an Indian"? I don't think 1/64th-1/1024 qualifies...and neither do most Indian nations. They usually want at least 1/16th in order to join the tribe.
And really, these are the only two standards that are going to matter. So she's toast in this one.
And I like her as well, when she's not being blatantly partisan. But she's lost this one.
Robert Conan Ryan I've had sexual relations with at least 3 women that are more Indian than her. They know who they are.

Barry Kort And that's the minimum, based on the portions of the DNA that were found to be dispositive. More refined analysis can only increase the fraction.
Robert Conan Ryan Barry Kort this is all missing the point: it's gross for white people to virtue signal by touting obscure lineages .
If a republican did it they would be blasted for it
It's not cool
Robert Conan Ryan Shit most Americans have some sort of obscure lines. Are we all black and natives?
Omar Yacoubi Eh … sympathy for minorities is not a bad thing. The alt right is gleeful that this might be turning public opinion away from that
Omar Yacoubi Experiences and connections matter more than DNA. If her mother was discriminated against for her appearance, then that’s totally valid
Barry Kort I'm a white person. And I'm also an obscure oppressed minority.
I stand with my Senator, Elizabeth Warren, who is experiencing the same kind of oppression and repression and abuse that academics, intellectuals, and systems thinkers have experienced since the dawn of civilization.
And I will rise and defend my right and Professor Warren's right to rise and speak the truth to power, despite the oppression, repression, and abuse that brings forth from the likes of anyone on this planet.
Anyone, Mr, Ryan. Anyone. Even you.
Robert Conan Ryan Barry Kort I'm not attacking her as a senator .
If your leaders are above critique, then you no longer are thinking like this is a democracy. You're treating here as royalty above reproach .
Shit I criticize my friends routinely. And they critique me as well. That's how it's supposed to be.
She is a senator not the Dalai Lama . And even the Dalai lama can be critiqued.
Barry Kort Fair criticism, yes. Abuse, no.
I am calling you out on being abusive, Mr. Ryan.
I am calling you out. That's my sincere and cautionary criticism of you.
Robert Conan Ryan Barry Kort you re WRONG, sir, and you seem to be evoking your white privilege here to denounce the official statement of the Cherokee nation: that SHE WAS OUT OF LINE.
THE FUCKING CHEROKEE NATION TOLD HER SO.
I side with the native americans, and against your fake moral concerns and your outrageous use of the word "Abuse" against me.
take your slanderous tongue out of my presence, unless you apologize for yor disgusting attitude. take your vile accusations and go fuck yourself, because the Cherokee Indians agree with ME, not you. You smug asshole.

Scott Sanville I am really confused by all this. Warren’s original claim was that she had some Native American connection in her family lineage. The genetic test proved that out. The rest of this just seems like noise.
Scott Sanville She said she had a native ancestor somewhere in her family tree (a story I have heard in my own family conversations). Trump started calling her Pocahontas. She takes a test that seems to prove her original statement. Idiocy ensues.
I really don’t think I missed anything here.
Scott Sanville Granted, I didn’t care enough to follow this closely. What did she say about her native heritage?
Robert Conan Ryan Scott Sanville for many years she has brought it up in politics. it wasn't a "political hit" Against her, becuase SHE introduced it frequently in conversation. SO trump challenged her on it in the past. So she took the bait and did a DNA test to show that she has "a native ancestor" but the acutal study says that it could have been somewhere between 6-10 generations back.
She then received a total denouncement form the Cherokee NAtions's secretary of state, admonishing her for even attempting to use a DNA test to justify her claims. They said she is not native, and her behavior is not useful to native American interests.
She screwed up, flat out.
Scott Sanville OK, so she brought up the fact that she had a native ancestor many times, Trump called her a lier, and the test proved that she had a native ancestor. The 1/64 vs. 1/1024 seems somewhat irrelevant to the original claim... Unless Warren was saying she was 1/64 herself.
I’ll have to look it up, but I’m pretty sure Trump had said that if she had any native blood, he would donate $1M to a charity of her choice. He never said he would donate $1M if she was 100% native because that wouldn’t have made sense. So, the percentages still seem irrelevant.
Scott Sanville I also heard a member of the Cherokee nation say that claiming you had native heritage is a slippery slope to claiming you were native. Seemed like a ridiculous argument at the time. Still does.
Robert Conan Ryan Scott Sanville so, you're saying that indians don't know anything about being indian?
Scott Sanville I’m saying that claiming you have an ancestor isn’t the same as claiming tribal membership.
Robert Conan Ryan I don't take a victim point of view, but, cmon, being native isn't a matter of dna tests, yo. THat's their official position.
They denounced her, they are right.
Scott Sanville I’m also saying if you are going to make a bet as stupid as the presidents, you should be ready to pay up.
Robert Conan Ryan Scott Sanville you're making stuff up now. you don't know anything about native American tribes.
Robert Conan Ryan are you going to tell me you took extensive college coursework on native anthropology and law?
Scott Sanville Hey, with the horrible history we have with Native Americans, we all probably have an ancestor somewhere in our family tree. When he made the bet, my first thought was, “Huh, that’s risky.”
Scott Sanville There are tribes in MN that have blood requirements.
With the amount of different tribes out there, making a statement like “it’s part of the native culture” seems a little monolithic.
Robert Conan Ryan Scott Sanville personally I don't care about the bet at all. that's just clickbait Donald trump tactics. Anyone who falls for that is getting sucked in, IMHO
however, it is funny (jeez people, lighten up) because ironically, trump was RIGHT this time. sometimes he wins a few digs. Doesn't make him a good president or a good person, but he was actually right on this one.
Cherokee Nation called it against Warren, end of story.

Guy Taylor Trump will spend nothing to help anyone but Donald Trump and his family and friends. People who did due diligence have already lost access to what they paid to have access to people are being left to die. More often than not it will be conservative Republicans.. I can see the humor... mostly they are conservative or republican because they vote for those sacred words not because those words are in any way associated with traditional conservative or republican values. A nominal shadow remains to point to but it is hollow and empty.
Rich Democrats and Rich Republicans will get richer and they will pat each other on their backs and have a party. Non of them are on FB or will share a teary face on anyone's concerns fears or troubles..
Losers need to die and decrease the surplus population. It would be funny seeing how the losers voted but I find it too depressing.
Not to worry everyone is tops and denial. Nope .
Liberal Dems won't be suffering half as much.
Omar Yacoubi Reposting to fix that misleading image up there. This is what the scientific review of the DNA evidence found. It's not in dispute by any scientist anywhere in the world, as of yet.
Mock her for other reasons, but make sure they're truthful ones.
Robert Conan Ryan Barry Kort This is not true.
The official report said that it is 99 percent certain that she has at least one answer "between 6-10 generations" not99 percent sure about 6 generations.
The conservative estimate actually fits the other graphic more accurately. Read the report.
Robert Conan Ryan Barry Kort furthermore, anyone who is 6 generations removed from an ethnicity has no right to claim significant ancestry. Period.
If you want to know why, look into native tribal politics, and understand just how important it is that one claims ancestry to a tribe. ITs a life altering thing to choose to affiliate with a tribal reseveration. either you do, our you don't, and if you don't you are NOT native. That's the official position of the tribal nations of the United States. if you have a problem with that, you're anti-native.
Robert Conan Ryan there is no such thing as genetic race at a 6th generation-removed level...the genetic markers used to identify native ancestry is JUNK DNA, not meaningful haplotypes.
Barry Kort Mr. Ryan, this is not about race, nor is it about genetics.
It is about abusive practices — being abusive to Senator Warren. It is about your personal remarks, which are abusive not just to her, but to me as well.
Asserting cavalier theories of mind, as you have done twice here, is an abusive practice that I urge you to seriously and conscientiously reflect upon and excise from your repertoire of conversational practices.
It's the unbecoming practice that Mr. Trump employs routinely, and it's an alienating and polarizing practice. If you employ that practice with your students and with your fellow faculty, as you have employed it here, I fear that it will negatively impact your stature and standing as a respected and respectable academic.
Do you understand what I'm saying to you and why?
This is about protecting you from a blunder that could abruptly and unexpectedly derail your career in academia.
Barry Kort As is my customary practice, I shall be publishing this dialogue as a permanent record of my unhappy encounter with you.

Robert Conan Ryan Cherokee Nation Secretary of State Chuck Hoskin Jr., in a statement obtained by The Oklahoman, said "Using a DNA test to lay claim to any connection to the Cherokee Nation or any tribal nation, even vaguely, is inappropriate and wrong."
"Senator Warren is undermining tribal interests with her continued claims of tribal heritage."
how about you ask real native americans what they think, first?
