May 21 - the next wave

Post date: May 21, 2011 12:44:45 PM

The next wave of flowers are appearing in the woods- may apple, wild geranium, sweet Cecily, and white flowering dogwood.

Early arrivals in the prairie are blue-eyed grass, prairie smoke and columbine.

This year, there is a marked increase, and natural propagation, of Solomon's Seal and Solomon's Plume- very welcome!

We have found 4 types of sedges- and plan to identify the species.

Stepping back, still in bloom are: shooting star, celandine poppy, anemone, all 3 trilliums, jack-in-the-pulpit, woodland phlox, blue violet, Greek Valerian, redbud and a few bluebells- Full House!
