2016 Apr 8 - Floristic Quality Assessment (FQA)

Today I used a free, open source FQA tool to capture our WoodstockNaturalYard native plant inventory and contribute to a growing repository of site inventories across the United States and Canada.
The calculator provided me with an overall assessment of our property, which I made public.
The data is accessible via a REST API, and represents a valuable resource on the occurrence and abundance of plant species.
Read more about it in the Methods in Ecology and Evolution article.
I think it is great we have this resource. The more visibility we can get to the native plant species growing in a particular area, the greater chance we have for preserving the ecosystems, for which they are a part, for future generations.
