Cold and rainy week, but you know what they say about April showers....

All plants are up in the woods, and small blooms starting to show on the Virginia Blue Bells, White Trillium, Prairie Trillium, Anemones, Trout Lilies, Dutchman's Breeches, Bleeding Heart, Hepatica, and Toothwort. This weekend will be sunny and warmer- expecting a POP. The best time of year is NOW.

Bloodroot blooms have faded, and their ornamental leaves are filling out.

Black-capped chickadees have taken over 2 of 3 bluebird boxes;

For the first time in several years, we have no nesting bluebirds-- we had a pair that were very busy attacking their reflections in the window; but no takers on the boxes.

We discovered a massive hawk nest in the white pines; it is vacant also, as far as we can tell.

Herons stole 2 koi, Baby Sparkles fathered the newest batch of sparkly babies, he will be missed!
