July 6 - drought

High heat and many, many days without rain are causing the prairie to struggle.

Soil and shade conditions are certainly a factor; and all plants in the semi-shade are doing quite well.

The plants that are fairing the best in full sun are black-eyed susan, compass plant and butterfly weed.

The plants that are wilted at the tops are sweet black-eyed susan' I am not sure we will get blooms this year.

On a happier note, I found a large mass of green frog eggs in the pond, I'll be watching closely for new developments!

Correction: those were koi eggs! 13 fish were born 6 gold and 7 black.
